Almost ten years after the first film was released, the original cast of horror-comedy Zombieland has been confirmed for a sequel.
Ruben Fleischer’s 2009 zombie film Zombieland is coming back with the same director who reunites the likes of Emma Stone, Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, and Abigail Breslin.
The film will also see the comeback of the original writers, Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese, who have been busy working on the hugely successful Deadpool films.
Production is scheduled to begin in January with the hope of an October 2019 release to coincide with the 10th anniversary of the first film.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the sequel “will once again put the focus on comic mayhem, taking the quartet from the White House to the American heartland as they face off against new kinds of zombies that have evolved since the first movie, as well as some new human survivors. But, most of all, according to the studio, they have to face the growing pains of their own snarky, makeshift family.”
