Olivia Rodrigo launches Daisy Chain Fields festival with female-only lineup

Pop superstar Olivia Rodrigo is launching her own festival, Daisy Chain Fields, with a lineup of only female artists or female-fronted bands.

Set to take place at Great Park on August 29th, 2026, in Irvine, California and taking direct inspiration from the famous Lilith Fair, the lineup includes Chappell Roan, Bikini Kill, Doechii, Mitski, the Breeders, Garbage, Katseye, Santigold, Rachel Chinouriri, Not for Radio, Die Spitz, Quiet Light, Eli, and special guests Stevie Nicks, Karen O, and original Lilith Fair founder Sarah McLachlan.

Profits from the shows will also go to organisations like the Center for Reproductive Rights, Planned Parenthood, and Johns Hopkins Center for Indigenous Health.

Discussing the news with Pitchfork, Rodrigo revealed her excitement to be organising the festival, saying, “I actually feel like it’s my calling in some weird way. I have had this dream to do this festival for a really long time.”

She also said she hopes attendees will experience the same sense of togetherness and community that attendees of the Lilith Fair had in the late 1990s, explaining that she feels “really connected to the young girls that come to my concerts, and the fact that I get to be in the fabric of their lives is a real, true honour that I don’t take lightly.

She added, “I just feel like we need something really positive to do and see, and young girls need awesome role models who are supporting other women and who are engaging in something that’s really joyful and musical and community-oriented.”

Founded by McLachlan, Dan Fraser, and Terry McBride, Lilith Fair took place during the summers of 1997 to 1999, consisting solely of female artists and female-fronted bands, and grossing $16 million, making it the top-grossing of any touring festival.

Rodrigo also appeared in Ally Pankiw’s 2025 documentary film, Lilith Fair: Building a Mystery, which featured archival footage and interviews with artists who participated in the original lineup. In it, Rodrigo admitted how she was “in disbelief” that she had “never heard of it before” and said that she is “constantly looking to” ’90s female singer-songwriters for inspiration.

This announcement comes amid the success of Rodrigo’s latest album, You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love, which many claim to be her most accomplished work yet. To promote the album, Rodrigo is also currently gearing up for The Unraveled Tour, which is set to begin in September with support from Wolf Alice, Devon Again, The Last Dinner Party, Grace Ives, and Die Spitz.
