Olivia Colman covers Portishead song ‘Glory Box’ for new BBC charity album
Academy Award winning actress Olivia Colman is getting behind the mic for a special cover version of Portishead song ‘Glory Box’.
In a new major fundraiser for Children in Need, the BBC has recruited the likes of Colman, Helena Bonham Carter, Jodie Whittaker, Jim Broadbent and more for their Got it Covered album.
Colman, who has put her spin on Portishead’s 1994 single ‘Glory Box’, will join Bonham Carter’s version of ‘Both Sides Now’ by Joni Mitchell, Jones’ ‘Symphony’ by Clean Bandit and Whittaker’s rendition of Coldplay song ‘Yellow’ which has been released early.
“In an exclusive collaboration for BBC Children in Need, a whole host of stars have got together to record an entire album to raise money for this year’s appeal. It will be released on Friday 1 November in conjunction with Silva Screen Records,” the BBC said of the album.
“Each star has handpicked a song significant to them for the album. Recorded at the legendary Rak and Abbey Road Studios in London, they each received expert guidance from Brit and Mercury award-winning record producers and songwriters, Guy Chambers and Jonathan Quarmby.”
