Norah Jones shares new single ‘Running’, and announces ninth album

American musician Norah Jones has announced details of her ninth studio album, Visions, set for release on March 8th, 2024.

The multi-talented artist last shared an album in 2021, the festive I Dream Of Christmas. In keeping with the record’s celebratory tone, Visions is an optimistic set of tracks that explores themes of freedom and gratitude.

Jones has shared the album’s lead single, ‘Running’, a piano-led track that features beautiful harmonies, with the singer defiantly asserting, “In the night the devil knocks on my door/ I keep running, oh I keep running away.”

It is one of many tracks on Visions that Jones co-wrote with Leon Michels, who has previously collaborated with the singer-songwriter. Discussing their musical partnership, Jones revealed, “We did most of the songs in the same way where I was at the piano or on guitar, and Leon was playing drums, and we were just jamming on stuff.”

“I like the rawness between me and Leon, the way it sounds kind of garage-y but also kind of soulful, because that’s where he’s coming from, but also not overly perfected,” she added.

Visions contains 12 songs, with tracks such as ‘I Just Wanna Dance’, ‘Queen of the Sea’ and ‘Alone With My Thoughts’. Following its release, Jones will embark on a US tour, playing in cities like Boston, Philadelphia and New York.
