Noah Centineo to play ‘Rambo’ in new origins movie
Hollywood actor Noah Centineo is attached to a new Rambo project, set before the classic Sylvester Stallone film series.
Per Deadline, a new Rambo prequel movie is in the works from Millennium Media. After an extensive search for the right actor to lead the cast, former Disney Channel star Centineo is in line to step into Stallone’s shoes.
The new movie, reportedly titled John Rambo, is set to enter production in Thailand early next year if all goes well.
Jalmari Helmander is set to direct the upcoming movie, which Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani have written.
Centineo made his name on the Disney Channel as a teenager before starring in the teen comedy movie series, To All The Boys, on Netflix, which spawned three films. He has also appeared in Alex Garland’s A24 production, Warfare, and is set to play Ken Masters in the upcoming Street Fighter reboot.
Speaking to Screen Rant in 2019, Stallone backed plans for a potential sequel, sharing, “I always thought of Rambo when he was 16 or 17 – I hope they can do the prequel – he was the best person you could find.”
The action star continued: “He was the captain of the team; he was the most popular kid in school; super athlete. He was like Jim Thorpe, and the war is what changed him. If you saw him before, he was like the perfect guy.”
