New Order have released some previously unseen footage taken from a performance dated in 1981.
The band, running through a live version of ‘Ceremony’, are playing at Manchester’s CoManCHE Student Union on February 6. The track, one of the last to be created prior to Joy Division’s lead singer Ian Curtis’ death, was later adopted by the remaining members who forged New Order.
In January 1981, the first version of ‘Ceremony’ was released on Factory Records as New Order’s debut single. The track would later be included in the 2008 Collector’s Edition album version of the group’s seminal record Movement.
Now, as New Order prepare to reissue Movement on vinyl and CD, the band are slowly releasing a bunch of unseen and previously unheard demos and live performances.
