Neko Case ends show early after armed guards refuse to leave stage

Singer-songwriter Neko Case ended her concert early in Tennessee after armed guards reportedly refused to leave the stage.

The concert took place on October 9th at The Caverns in Pelham, Tennessee, and according to Setlist FM, the show ended after four songs due to the armed guards.

According to one Reddit user, who was in attendance at the concert and recorded the concert on their phone, Case told the crowd: “Guys, there are men on every side of this room with a gun and I am not comfortable playing this show, I’m sorry. It’s not okay.”

She then reportedly explained to the crowd that she is a survivor of sexual assault and how guns triggered the traumatising memory, adding, “I can’t have men with guns watching me right now.  I don’t know if you’ve ever been raped at gunpoint, but, you don’t want people hanging around with guns, you just don’t fuckin’ (unintelligible).”

Before departing the stage, Case is said to have apologised to fans, and remarked, “So, I am very sorry about this, but they’re not leaving so I guess we are, thank you.”

Case is yet to comment on the show in Tennessee; however, the comments section of her most recent Instagram post is flooded with fans compassionately sharing their understanding of her reasoning for bringing the show to a premature end.

Her tour has since resumed at The Playhouse in Atlanta, Georgia, on October 10th, and she is due to perform at the Charleston Music Hall in North Carolina tonight (October 11th).

Case released her most recent studio album, Neon Grey Midnight Green, on September 26th, 2025, and is set to continue promoting the record on tour across North America into early 2026.
