Neil Young and his wife, Daryl Hannah, have released the third edition of their hugely popular ‘Fireside Sessions’.
Taking to his hugely popular ‘Neil Young Archives’ website, the iconic musician performed a seven-song set which has been directed by Hannah and held at their Telluride, Colorado home.
In his first edition of the series, Young confirmed he and his wife are taking this on as part of an effort to help those currently forced to stay home amid the crisis: “Because we are all at home and not venturing out,” he wrote of the series, “We will try to do a stream from my fireplace with my lovely wife filming. It will be a down-home production, a few songs, a little time together.”
In his third edition of the series, Young once again follows his new tradition of avoiding his most recognisable hits and performs Tonight’s The Night tracks ‘New Mama’ and ‘World on a String’. Switching between the guitar and piano, Young runs through a rendition of On The Beach song ‘See the Sky About to Rain’ before covering Buffalo Springfield track ‘I Am a Child’.
In a set which is built around the inclusion of their pet dogs, Young and Hannah also included a comical advertisement for water, describing it as ‘Earth’s Finest Product’. Elsewhere, the set included a look back at Mirror Ball, the 1995 LP he made in collaboration with Pearl Jam, with a rendition of ‘Throw Your Hatred Down and a moving version of the CSNY hit ‘Helpless.’
