Neil Young invites Donald Trump to solo summer tour: “Come and hear our music”
After backing Bruce Springsteen in his disapproval of President Donald Trump, Neil Young has come forward to invite the president to his summer tour this year.
The initial dust-up began when Springsteen made remarks regarding what Trump has been doing since he took office in early 2025. Since then, he has come under fire for his comments, with Trump stating that The Boss’s actions are unpatriotic and that he intends to launch a thorough investigation into what he is saying.
While Young has said he fears martial law being enforced in the US by the summer, he hopes to have the president in attendance during his tour. Writing on Neil Young Archives, “We will not be doing a political show. We will be playing the music we love for all of us to enjoy together. President Trump, you are invited. Come and hear our music just as you did for decades.”
This follows Young standing in support of Springsteen over Trump’s policies. He initially said that he had major disagreements with how Trump was conducting himself and his focus being on entertainers “instead of the dyin’ kids in Gaza”. He would then emphatically tell the president to leave dissenters alone, saying that he was “persecuting people for their right to free speech and voicing their dissent.”
Young also called attention to Springsteen touring over the summer and his plans to support him in whatever action he takes next. He then concluded with a patriotic message to the fans, saying, “We are proud to be who we are, and must never let our government forget it.”
Despite their differences in political ideologies, Trump has mentioned that he has been a major Neil Young fan for years. While Trump has been known for harshly criticising many celebrities who disagree with his perspective, he has remained especially tight-lipped about Young’s comments.
As of yet, there has been no word if Trump has any plans to attend any of Young’s shows.
