Neal Casal, guitarist of Ryan Adams and The Cardinals, has died aged 50
Musician Neal Casal has died, his family has confirmed.
Casal, best known as the guitarist with Ryan Adams’ band The Cardinals, also worked with the likes of Willie Nelson, Shooter Jennings, the Jayhawks, the Chris Robinson Brotherhood and more.
His family took to social media to confirmed the news: “It’s with great sadness that we tell you Neal Casal has passed. As so many know, Neal was a gentle, soulful human who lived life through artistry & kindness. His family, friends & fans will always remember the light that he brought to the world. Rest easy Neal, we love you,” the statement reads.
In reaction to the news, Jennings wrote on Instagram: “I am absolutely devastated. [Neal] was my always my favourite picker in LA and we’d just finished some beautiful music together.”
Ryan Adams also paid tribute to Casal, writing: “Oh man. My heart is broken What an honor to have known you, true believer. I love you,” in a post on social media.
His family have not yet revealed the cause of death.
