Our favourite Sheffield punks are adding a touch more po-mo haze on to their latest track ‘Just Like You’. Taken from the double A side release on Top Shelf Records alongside ‘Jelly’ the track has a little added melody and cooing choruses to make it feel a little more Brit pop.
Not as dirty a word as you would think when considering the band’s ability.
They manage to make the hook feel instantly likable without feeling too orchestrated. They still inhabit their punk sensibilities on the song but add something a little meatier to the broth. The band look set to continue their climb to the top of the scuzz pole, with every grimey inch providing another stellar track.
“Just Like You is a song about two or more people being literally glued together and forced to be the same person but they’re all just trying to rip each other apart. It sounds pretty fucking mental when said out loud.
It’s one of our favourite songs we’ve written as a band and it just flowed out of us so naturally. As always, we tried to keep it sounding as gritty and wild in the studio as it did live and on demos.” – Ben Thompson, Nai Harvest
