My Bloody Valentine play first show in seven years at intimate Dublin venue

My Bloody Valentine have finally played their first show in seven years at an intimate Dublin venue.

On November 19th, the shoegaze legends took to Dublin’s 2,000-capacity National Stadium for a warm-up show before their first official show back, which will take place at Dublin’s 3Arena on November 22nd.

The show was billed under the band name Isn’t Anything, echoing their 1988 album. It was originally set to take place at a smaller Dublin venue, but the band caved when seeing the sheer demand for the warm-up show and moved it to the stadium.

They played 19 songs in total, but the night was plagued with several issues. As noted by Brooklyn Vegan, the venue had technical problems with their ticket scanners, meaning fans couldn’t get into the building until around 9pm.

Eventually, the team gave up on scanning tickets and just let attendees through the doors.

The band played a decent mix of songs from across their discography. They also soared through a live debut of ‘Off Your Face’ from Glider. They closed out with a rendition of ‘You Made Me Realise’.

Despite going on tour, the band have not released any new music. Speaking in 2021, frontman Kevin Shields provided an update on their long-awaited fourth album, stating, “We definitely didn’t want to work with a major record company, since we wanted a lot of control and independence.”

At the time, he added, “We’re getting into a partnership with Domino mainly because they’re one of the few great independent labels that are left in the world.” However, no new music ever followed.

Their official tour will kick off in Dublin on November 22nd before heading to Manchester, London and Glasgow. They will then play two shows in February 2026 in Osaka, following two in Tokyo, and one headline set in Barcelona on June 4th for Primavera Sound festival.
