My Bloody Valentine have announced their return to the live circuit and in August will be playing live for the first time since 2013.
The Kevin Shields fronted group have been announced to play Japan’s Sonicmania festival, alongside Nine Inch Nails and Marshmello. The one-day festival is run by the some company who are in charge of Summer Sonic.
Shields recently announced that he is planning a new album with My Bloody Valentine, saying the new record will “one hundred percent” be released next year.
Discussing the new work, Shields said: “This one is like if somebody took that [m b v] and dropped some acid on it or created a dimensional clash or something. It’s more all over the place.
“In some respects, some of it is a bit straightforward,” he added in an interview with Rolling Stone. “The MBV album that we did in 2013 feels more meandery and not as concise. It’s more all over the place… The record I am making now is not so much about death and change as freedom of the soul.”
