Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee has spoken out about his disgust toward Donald Trump and revealed that he plans to leave the United States for good if he wins the upcoming presidential election as the incumbent seeks re-election.
He even has his destination lined up with the Mötley Crüe drummer stating that he will return to the “motherland”, otherwise known as Greece. Lee was born in Greece to his father, U.S. Army Sergeant David Lee Thomas Bass, and mother, Vassiliki “Voula” Papadimitriou, a pageant contestant who represented Greece in the 1960 Miss World contest. When Lee was about a year old, his dad moved the family back to the United States.
In an interview with The Big Issue, the drumming icon was asked about how he plans to deal with four more potential years of living under the stewardship of Trump. “Dude, I swear to God if that happens then I’m coming over to visit the UK — I’m out of here,” Lee responded. “I’ll go back to my motherland, go back to Greece and get a house on one of the islands.”
The drummer continued, “The thing that stings the most is that I feel like we’re embarrassing. I feel like people in Europe and the rest of the world look at America and think: ‘What the fuck are you guys doing over there? Stop voting for celebrities and get someone real to run the country.’”
Mötley Crüe were set to have just completed a huge stadium reunion tour which ended a previously contract promising that they wouldn’t tour again. It was due to see Def Leopard co-headline the run of dates with Joan Jett and Poison joining as heavy support acts but like seemingly everything in the world it has been put on hold for the foreseeable future.
Despite the unknown future in regards to touring, Lee is relaxed on that front, “I can just imagine what it’s going to be like being on stage with that many people and that energy when it’s OK to be together again. It’s going to be priceless – that kind of energy I’m probably never going to see again in my lifetime. Can you imagine what that’s going to be like? Holy shit!”
