Mötley Crüe frontman Vince Neil has suffered a stroke
Mötley Crüe frontman Vince Neil has revealed that he suffered a stroke around Christmas of 2024, which left doctors doubting that he would ever walk again.
Back in March, the glam rock icons announced that they were postponing an upcoming Las Vegas residency, which was set to kick off on March 28th and finish on April 19th. The postponement was attributed to a “required medical procedure recently advised by vocalist Vince Neil’s doctors.”
Speaking to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, the frontman revealed the nature of the “medical procedure,” which was, in fact, a stroke. “I had a stroke,” he admitted. “My whole left side went out. I had to learn to walk again, and that was tough.”
He continued to describe the terrifying ordeal: “The doctors said they didn’t think I’d be able to go back on stage again. I go, ‘No, no, I’m gonna do it. Watch and see.'”
Despite his determination, he was completely set back by the incident. He shared, “I went from people carrying me to the bathroom, because I couldn’t walk myself, finally to a wheelchair. I graduated to a walker, and then I had a cane.”
The 64-year-old revealed that he worked alongside a football coach in order to get his full range of movement back. He said, “It takes a while to get your brain to start moving your legs, for them to do what your brain wants to do. You try to walk, but it doesn’t come out right.”
This news comes as Mötley Crüe kick-starts their postponed Las Vegas residency. The rescheduled dates kicked off on September 12th at Dolby Live at Park MGM in Las Vegas, and will see them play ten shows at the location, ending on October 3rd.
This is a busy time for the band, as a brand new singles collection, From The Beginning, was released on September 12th via BMG. On the album, a new collaborative reimagining of the previous track, ‘Home Sweet Home,’ can be heard, now re-formed as a duet with Dolly Parton.
