Morrissey cancels two Mexico concerts due to “extreme exhaustion”

Morrissey has cancelled two of his upcoming Mexico concerts as a result of “extreme exhaustion”.

The news was made via way of the concert promoter, OCESA, who shared a statement on the day of the first cancelled concert. They wrote, “We are informing the public in Mexico City and Guadalajara that, due to the artist’s extreme exhaustion, Morrissey’s concerts scheduled for October 31st at the Palacio de los Deportes and November 4th at the Auditorio Telmex have been cancelled.”

The statement continued with details of refunds, which will be automatically credited in most cases. For fans who bought through Ticketmaster, they can request a refund from November 7th.

Morrissey only had one thing to say to follow up news of the cancellation: on his official site, he simply posted his 1992, ‘I Know it’s Gonna Happen Someday’, followed by several Mexican flag emojis.

This is becoming a repeated pattern for The Smiths frontman. Last month, he cancelled his shows in Turkey, ostensibly because of backlash against his support for Israel in the war on Gaza.

He was due to perform at the Volkswagen Arena in Istanbul as well as in Ankara at the ATO Congressium in December. However, tickets were removed after a video went viral, which showed the singer performing in 2012. On stage, he can be seen draped in an Israeli flag while performing in Tel Aviv.

In September, the performer was forced to cancel two North America shows after a man was arrested for death threats made against him. The news was shared at the time in a statement that read, in part, “In recent days, there has been a credible threat on Morrissey’s life. Out of an abundance of caution for the safety of both the artist and audience, tonight’s engagement at Foxwoods has been cancelled.”

In October, Morrissey announced details of his only UK show in 2026, which will take place at the O2 Arena in London on February 28th, 2026.
