More names added for Brian Eno’s huge Together for Palestine fundraiser at Wembley Arena
A host of star-studded names from music and film have been added to Brian Eno‘s upcoming Together For Palestine fundraiser at Wembley Arena.
The one-day event, scheduled to take place in London on September 17th, is donating 100 per cent of proceeds to Choose Love, which will then distribute the money to Palestinian-led organisations offering humanitarian aid.
Amelia Dimoldenberg, Benedict Cumberbatch, Bilal Hasna, Celeste, Charithra Chandran, El Far3i, Elyanna, Guy Pearce, Jameela Jamil, Leigh-Anne, Louis Theroux, Nadine Shah, Ramy Youssef, Saint Levant, and Stephen Kapos are among the new additions to the line-up.
Additionally, Portishead will reunite to record a special performance of ‘Roads’ with a string quartet that will be aired at the event.
The Bristolian band said of their involvement: “We are incredibly honoured to stand in solidarity with Palestine and be part of this crucial event. The genocide must stop.”
Meanwhile, Guy Pearce explained his decision to participate: “I feel utterly heartbroken every day witnessing the atrocities inflicted upon the innocent people of Palestine. It’s hard not to feel helpless. Being part of this concert will enable me to share my heart with others who also see the injustice in these horrific crimes.”
The Australian actor continued: “More importantly it enables me to show my support for and to the people of Gaza, and all those subjected to this brutal genocide. Hopefully this concert encourages more people to stand up and speak out.”
Jameela Jamil predicts Together For Palestine “will be a moment in history that we look back on and say we stood on the side of humanity” and said she is “honoured to be involved”.
Before the new additions, the line-up already boasted Damon Albarn, King Krule, Bastille, Rina Sawayama, Jamie XX, Hot Chip, Paloma Faith, James Blake and Sampha.
Upon announcing the event in August, Eno said, “In the face of the horrors of Gaza, silence becomes complicity. Artists have always helped societies to point out injustice and imagine better futures. That’s why this concert matters. It’s time for us to come together — not just to raise our voices, but to reaffirm our shared humanity.”
