Track of the Day is a hazy yet urgent song of very high quality from the high-quality trio of Hannah Joy, Harry Day and Tim Fitz, AKA Middle Kids. It’s released before the band head out on tour in November.
A song which is simple in construction yet big on delivery, the track dances around the instantly connectable lines of an, as yet, unfulfilled life. It marries Wolf Alice and band like Alvvays with effortless aplomb.
Hannah says of the track “‘Salt Eyes’ is when you get those red-dry-eyes after a big cry. Sometimes we try to live large but actually it makes us feel small. ‘Salt Eyes’ is what we get when we’re searching for freedom but haven’t found it yet.”
The band will join Bloc Party as part of that mega tour but in November will take on the headline slot themselves as they spend most of November on the road. Make sure you get to see Middle Kids soon, we get the feeling they’re destined to reach the top.
