Megadeth share first single, ‘Tipping Point’, from final album
Megadeth have unveiled their first single, ‘Tipping Point’, from their forthcoming self-titled farewell album.
‘Tipping Point’ represents the start of the rock juggernaut’s final chapter, which, in addition to their last studio album in 2026, will also include a farewell tour and an autobiography from Dave Mustaine that documents their story.
Mustaine says of the new track, “We all have different ‘tipping points’ and they may vary from day to day. I think we’re all being pushed to the edge right now, and it’s easy to lean into that feeling. But it’s important not to let things get you down.”
‘Tipping Point’ arrives alongside a harrowing music video courtesy of Leonardo Liberti, which depicts Mustaine being locked up in a prison and tortured while the band performs.
There is currently no specific release date for their self-titled final record, but it will be coming in 2026 via Dave Mustaine’s Tradecraft imprint. Details are also set to follow for their last tour.
Upon announcing their decision to end on their own terms, Mustaine told fans, “There are so many musicians who have come to the end of their career, whether accidental or intentional. Most of them don’t get to go out on their own terms on top, and that’s where I’m at in my life right now. I have traveled the world and have made millions upon millions of fans and the hardest part of all of this is saying goodbye to them.”
The guitarist continued, “If there was ever a perfect time for us to put out a new album, it’s now. If there was ever a perfect time to tour the world, it’s now. This is also a perfect time for us to tell you that it’s our last studio album. We’ve made a lot of friends over the years and I hope to see all of you on our global farewell tour. Don’t be mad, don’t be sad, be happy for us all, come celebrate with me these next few years.”
