Matt Berninger shares new single ‘Breaking Into Acting’ with Hand Habits

The National’s Matt Berninger has continued to tease his forthcoming solo album with new single ‘Breaking Into Acting’, which also features Hand Habits.

The quaint new single, which finds Berninger delicately duetting with Meg Duffy, who performs under the name of Hand Habits, is the second release from his new album, Get Sunk. The album will arrive on May 30th through Book/Concord Records.

On ‘Breaking Into Acting’, Berninger and Duffy sing in harmony: “Your mouth is always full of blood packets, You’re breaking into acting, I completely understand.”

Berninger explains the new song: “Sometimes you have to fake forgiveness before you can actually forgive.”

In addition to Duffy’s contribution to ‘Breaking Into Acting’, Get Sunk, produced by Sean O’Brien, also features Julia Laws (Ronboy), Kyle Resnick (The National, Beirut), Garret Lang, Sterling Laws, Booker T Jones, Harrison Whitford, Mike Brewer, and The Walkmen’s Walter Martin and Paul Maroon.

The press material states of the album’s message: “It’s about realizing that you are not yourself without a thousand others: parents, friends, siblings, spouses and exes, college roommates, childhood best friends, cousins, kids and even strangers.”

In August, The National frontman will arrive in the United Kingdom and Ireland for a series of shows, including headline dates in Dublin, London, Manchester, and Glasgow before appearing at End of the Road. The jaunt will then move into mainland Europe to visit the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Germany, Norway and Denmark.

Berninger and Duffy both star in the music video for ‘Breaking Into Acting’, which has been directed by Hopper Mills.
