Massive Attack donate £10,000 worth of free meals for NHS workers

Massive Attack have donated £10,000 towards a crowdfunding campaign which is aiming to supply free meals to NHS staff in the band’s hometown of Bristol.

The donation was made to the Bristol Food Union which is a union made up of restaurants, farmers, and growers that launched their #FeedTheFrontline crowdfund two weeks ago with the campaign now surpassing its initial target of £20,000 largely thanks to Massive Attack.

The description of their Just Giving page reads: “The Bristol restaurant community want to make sure that all frontline workers delivering long and difficult hours, don’t have to worry about cooking healthy, nutritious meals for themselves or their families.”

It adds: “While our restaurants are closed, we have created secure production kitchens around Bristol. Each day we will cook as many meals as we can afford and make them available to frontline staff completely free of charge. The post continues: “While our restaurants are closed, we have created secure production kitchens around Bristol. Each day we will cook as many meals as we can afford and make them available to frontline staff completely free of charge.”

In a Facebook post made last week, Massive Attack annouce they were backing the cause and urged their fans to also support it, noting: “We’re supporting this intervention. Please help if you can”
