Martin Scorsese’s daughter, Francesca Scorsese, joins ‘Mr. and Mrs. Smith’ series
Martin Scorsese‘s daughter, Francesca Scorsese, has been cast as spy queen Jane Smith in the second season of the Amazon MGM Studios series, Mr. and Mrs. Smith.
As per Deadline, the TikTok star will take on the role of Jane Smith in the new season of the drama, which reportedly started production in Los Angeles last month.
Season one star, Donald Glover, is also set to direct multiple episodes of the new season after helming the finale of the first season.
Additionally, industry rumours suggest that season one leads Glover and Maya Erskine will reprise their roles, though the extent of their reappearance still remains unclear. Other plot details are being kept under wraps.
Glover and Erskine are not the only Mr. and Mrs. Smith couple in the series; they will be joined by a pair played by Mark Eydelshteyn and Talia Ryder. Scorsese’s character is believed to be one-half of another couple.
The first season of Mr. and Mrs. Smith, released in 2024, earned 16 Emmy nominations and took home two statuettes.
The series is based on the original 2005 New Regency Film of the same name, which starred Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie as a bored upper-middle-class married couple surprised to learn that they are both secret assassins.
This isn’t Scorsese’s first television rodeo; in 2020, she played free-spirited teen Britney Orton in the HBO miniseries We Are Who We Are, co-created and directed by Luca Guadagnino.
The social media star can also currently be seen in the coming-of-age Netflix comedy, Roommates, and is directing her next short film, Adults Only, as well as working on a book with A24.
As for her famous father, Martin is currently directing his next feature film, What Happens at Night, an adaption of Peter Cameron’s ghost story set to star Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence.
