Man dies after falling from balcony a Goose’s Madison Square Garden show
Tragedy struck New York as a 51-year-old man died after falling during Goose’s sold-out concert at Madison Square Garden.
Police officers were called to the New York venue at approximately 9:51pm where they arrived to find a man unconscious and unresponsive.
It was determined that his injuries were consistent with a fall from an “elevated position.” The man was then immediately taken to Bellevue Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
“At approximately 9:51p.m. inside Madison Square Garden, officers observed a 51 year old male unconscious and unresponsive,” the NYPD told The New York Post in a statement.
It was Goose’s second show of a sold-out two-night run at The Garden, with Rick Mitarotonda, Trevor Weeks, Peter Anspach and Cotter Ellis all taking the stage.
The group have since shared a statement on social media in response to the event. “We are deeply saddened and heartbroken to learn of the tragic event that occurred at tonight’s show,” the band wrote.
Adding, “We extend our deepest sympathy to everyone affected. Thank you to the emergency personnel and venue staff who stepped in with care and support.”
Witnesses have explained that immediately after the incident, the venue staff cleared at least seven rows in the area.
The band continued, however, unaware of what had taken place despite rows of seats being cordoned off, and so performed its full 16-song setlist before ending the concert roughly around midnight.
