A 26-year-old has been arrested for allegedly threatening to bomb the SXSW music festival in Austin, Texas.
Trevor Weldom Ingram, was arrested on Saturday and charged with making a terroristic threat. The Roots were scheduled to perform but was hauled off stage when Austin Police said a bomb threat was sent via email to Live Nation Music. The email received at 4:23pm.
Event sponsor Bud Light canceled the event last night with an apology to fans: “We felt it was necessary to take all safety precautions.”
The likes of Ludacris, Dermot Kennedy, Jessie Reyez, Rapsody and other artists were scheduled to perform at the concert as well.
The Roots, a band well-known for playing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, took to Twitter to apologise to fans for the sudden cancellation: “No one is Mr “show must go on” than me. But we can’t risk our lives if we are told there was a bomb threat. I’m sure we will return to Austin ladies and gentlemen. Thanks for understanding,” Questlove wrote.
