With Britney Spears’ conservatorship occupying the headlines as details of mistreatment emerge, a slew of stars have spoken out in support of the singer.
The latest to join the outcry of support is Madonna. Having shared an infamous kiss at the VMA’s in 2003 her one-time collaborator took to Instagram to share a message of support saying, “give this woman her life back.”
Over a photo of herself wearing a Britney T-shirt, Madonna posted this statement: “Give this woman her life back. Slavery was abolished so long ago! Death to the greedy patriarchy that has been doing this to women for centuries. This is a violation of human rights! Britney we coming to get you out of jail!”
When Britney Spears recently appeared in court she made a 20-minute address stating: “I want to end this conservatorship without being evaluated.” Before emotionally adding, “This conservatorship is doing me way more harm than good. I deserve to have a life.”
She pleaded that she wants to have more children and get married which the conservatorship restricts by enforcing birth control over her by the threat of legality and finance issues if she was to disobey.
For now, the judge has denied the request to dispose of her father from the conservatorship, but more developments are expected in the coming weeks, particularly with mounting public pressure over the case.
