Tributes to Mac Miller have been flooding in since the shock news of the rapper’s death.
Miller was found dead at his Los Angeles home after an apparent overdose, a coroner confirmed. He was just 26-years-old.
The rapper shot to fame in 2011 with his debut album but struggled with substance abuse, even openly rapping about his struggles in multiple songs.
“Malcolm McCormick, known and adored by fans as Mac Miller, has tragically passed away at the age of 26,” his family said in a statement. “He was a bright light in this world for his family, friends and fans. Thank you for your prayers. Please respect our privacy. There are no further details as to the cause of his death at this time.”
Now, fellow musicians and friends of Miller have started to pay tribute. “So sad u gone home young Mac I had to post this to smile and think about the good Time we had on the set of this movie man god bless ya family. Pittsburg we lost a real one today,” Snoop Dogg said on Twitter.
Missy Elliot added: I’m so saddened to hear about Mac Miller such a kind spirit Sending prayers for strength for his family & friends & fans during this difficult time.”
Ed Sheeran posted a tribute on Instagram, saying: “This just really saddened me. I hung out with Mac a few times over the years and he was always such a sweetheart, always had the time of day for anyone, whoever they were,” he wrote. “As well as being a great talent, he was a great human. Love and prayers to his family and friends. I don’t know what else to say.”
I dont know what to say Mac Miller took me on my second tour ever. But beyond helping me launch my career he was one of the sweetest guys I ever knew. Great man. I loved him for real. Im completely broken. God bless him.
