Lorde, ramping up excitement around her new album Melodrama, has explained how the late David Bowie is the inspiration around the new record.
Bowie, who considered the 20-year-old New Zealand singer-songwriter as ‘the future of music’, has heavily influenced the forthcoming LP.
“I feel like the whole time spent writing this record, I’ve had him [David Bowie] in my thoughts, I’ve had him in my heart,” Lorde told Radio 1.
“It’s hard not to make something and not think, ‘What would David think of this? If I could play it to him, what would he say?'”
Fittingly, Lorde recorded parts of the new record in New York’s Electric Lady studios, the very same environment as Bowie chose to record his final album Blackstar.
