Lorde has shared a new handwritten note thanking her fans for the recent support following the high-profile snub from the Grammys.
The New Zealand artist, who took out an ad in a newspaper to publish her note, was nominated for Album of the Year for her second studio LP ‘Melodrama’. However, Bruno Mars took the acclaim for his record ’24K Magic’ as part of his six award haul at Sunday night’s ceremony.
Controversy came, however, when it was allegedly revealed that Lorde rejected the chance to perform live at the ceremony after she was reportedly told that she was the only artist nominated in the Album of the Year category not to be offered a solo performance slot by organisers.
In response, Lorde published the following note in the NZ Herald:
“Last night I saw a lot of crazy and wonderful things,” she wrote.
“I just wanted to say thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for loving and embracing ‘Melodrama’ the way you did. My nomination belongs to you
“Thank you, also, for believing in female musicians. You set a beautiful precedent!”
