Logic returns with new song 'Tired in Malibu'

Let it be thine divine providence that if a rapper shalt bequeath his career to the winds, they shalt be welcomed upon their inevitable return. Retiring in rap is like saying you have a girlfriend in Canada: even if it’s true, no one is going to believe you.

Jay-Z, Master P, 50 Cent, and Mos Def are just a few of the biggest names in hip hop who have promised a permanent hiatus from the game, only to make a triumphant, and completely expected, return in a short time later.

With all of that in mind, no one took Logic seriously when claimed he was retiring after the release of his sixth studio album, No Pressure, to become a Twitch streamer. Some outlets at least tried to entertain the idea that Sir Robert was serious, but most started making fun of the announcement about two seconds after it came out.

Now, as the prophecy decrees, Logic is back with a new track, ‘Tired in Malibu’. At least he was until he deleted it from anywhere and everywhere. Luckily this is still the internet, so you can easily find the recording from third parties. I’m sure this was all part of Logic’s plan for a return, or it was a leak but, either way, it works in his favour.

‘Tired in Malibu’ is less a song and more of a snippet to announce that he’s back. It’s just barely over a minute long, it’s a single verse, and it mostly consists of Logic complementing his own rap skills, giving a shout out to Elon Musk, and claiming he’s un-retired. It’s the musical equivalent of a teaser trailer: low on content but high on anticipation for what’s to come.

So what’s to come? Well, no one really knows right now. The final lines are pretty unambiguous though: “Retired for a minute but I guess I’m back, man”.

Check out this bit copy of ‘Tired in Malibu’, but be sure to keep it on the down low before Logic’s lawyers see it.
