Local Natives are back with ‘Past Lives’

Since the 2013 L-P Hummingbird Local Natives have left a summery/hazy shoegazing hole in our lives. Now though, they’re back with a new track and ‘Past Lives’ is as epic and cinematic as you would hope.

The song hinges on the opening line “Save me from the prime of my life”, a sentiment which rings and echoes across a vast expanse of sound. The track drops somewhere between epic and downright ostentatious but it is the charm which permeates every Local Natives tune that make it an easily-likeable song.

Taylor Rice said of the newly released track “The world is not static, it’s made new over and over again. But we tend to live the same patterns in a loop, loving the same way, wrestling the same demons, the same dynamics playing out around us again and again. Untangling every moment and decision that led us to where we are now can make fate feel concrete, inescapable. But our world is not fixed, it’s constantly re-emerging, and we can change it into whatever we want.”

Exactly our thoughts as well… we think
