Venezuelan-American, singer-songwriter and visual artist Devendra Banhart has performed a new, intimate live session for BBC Radio 6.
Banhart joined Nemone in the studio who is filling in for regular host Lauren Laverne. Performing tracks from his latest album Ape in Pink Marble, the 36-year-old goes on to explain his thought process surrounding some of the songwriting.
First track, ‘Middle Names’ for example, was written from the perspective of his friend who had just lost her husband, who was also a close friend of his own.
After sharing his love of bananas sandals made of cinnamon, Barnhart plays ‘Theme For A Taiwanese Woman In Lime Green’, the second track played in the Live Room.
