Last night Florence + The Machine debuted a new song on the second episode of series 8 of Game of Thrones. Florence and the band performed their version of ‘Jenny of Oldstones’ during the closing credits.

The Ramin Djawadi written song is deeply steeped in Celtic tradition and that’s something that still rings true with Florence Welch. “Celtic music has always been in my blood, so I felt like I could do something with it,” Florence said about the song in a statement. “The Magic and ritual in ‘Game of Thrones,’ not to mention the costumes, have always appealed to me.”

In series 8, so far, Florence is the only artists to be featured so far. Her song ‘Seven Devils’, taken from the 2011 album Ceremonials, accompanied the season 2 trailer. It’s the first new music from the band following their recent songs ‘Moderation’ and ‘Haunted House’.
