Lily Allen has dedicated her song ‘Fuck You’ to Liam Neeson following his controversial comments of wanting to kill a black person.
Neeson, who was speaking in an interview to promote his new film Cold Pursuit, admitted that he once wanted to kill a random black man after someone close to him was raped.
He said in the interview: “She handled the situation of the rape in the most extraordinary way. But my immediate reaction was… I asked, did she know who it was? No. What colour they? She said it was a black person.
“I went up and down areas with a cosh, hoping I’d be approached by somebody – I’m ashamed to say that – and I did it for maybe a week, hoping some [uses air quotes with fingers] ‘black bastard’ would come out of a pub and have a go at me about something, you know? So that I could kill him.”
Elaborating more, Neeson confirmed that he did not commit any violence and, looking back on a different time of his life, confessed that “it was horrible, horrible, when I think back, that I did that… It’s awful. But I did learn a lesson from it.”
Now, Lily Allen has waded into the debate while performing live in Sydney, Australia. Introducing the single ‘Fuck You’, she said: “Normally, I dedicate this song to Donald Trump, but tonight I’m dedicating it to Liam Neeson.”
On the track, Allen s: “You’re just some racist who can’t tie my laces. Your point of view is medieval.”
Further emphasising her opinion on social media, Allen wrote: “I don’t believe Liam Neeson’s racist anecdote, which makes it even more disgusting.
“I don’t know a woman who hasn’t been harassed and I have never heard of an instance where a man has actually gone out to defend her honour. It just doesn’t happen.”
