‘Lilo and Stitch’ star Daveigh Chase’s cause of death revealed to be AIDS

The cause of death for Lilo and Stitch actor Daveigh Chase has been revealed to be AIDS.

The actor tragically passed away aged just 35 on June 16th, in what was said at the time by her boyfriend to be caused by meningitis and an infection in her blood.

However, following a report from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner, it has now been confirmed that Chase died from AIDS, with “chronic polysubstance use”, meaning the use of multiple drugs, and “other significant conditions” also being listed as factors (per BBC News).

As such, the report ruled that the actor’s death was “natural”, following her admission to hospital earlier this month.

Chase, who occasionally went under the name Daveigh Schwallier, was a former child star whose career reached its height in the early 2000s with a variety of different roles.

She was best known for voicing the lead character of Lilo in the 2002 Disney animated film Lilo and Stitch, as well as Samara Morgan in the horror film The Ring, the ghost character who crawls out of the TV.

Despite having roles in a range of other films and TV shows, including Sabrina the Teenage Witch and S Darko, Chase reportedly retired from acting in 2015.

Her father, John David Schwallier, told The New York Times that prior to her death, she had been homeless in Los Angeles with her boyfriend.

According to reports, Chase faced a number of legal issues in her adult life, including being charged for the possession of drugs and joyriding in a stolen car.
