Liam Gallagher slams Scottish council for deeming Oasis fans “rowdy”

Liam Gallagher has hit out at the Edinburgh council for allegedly criticising Oasis fans.

The council made the remarks in safety briefings created ahead of the three sold-out Oasis shows set to hit Murrayfield in August. The documents, released following a freedom of information request by the Scottish Sun, revealed that the council had concerns about the shows clashing with the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Within the documents, council officials warned that “middle aged men take up more room, consider this when working out occupancy.” Another comment highlighted “concern about crowds of Oasis on weekends as they are already rowdy and the tone of the band.” A further note warns that there will be “medium to high intoxication” with a “substantial amount of older fans.”

The documents even suggested some actors would not come to Edinburgh that weekend to avoid the shows’ chaos. One comment read, “Concerned about the safety of the Fringe and its performers. Many performers are considering not attending for that weekend.”

Liam Gallagher did not take the news well, and responded to the council on X. His post read, “To the Edinburgh council I’ve heard what you said about OASIS fans and quite frankly your attitude fucking stinks I’d leave town that day if I was any of you lot.”

He was not quite finished there. In a second post, he added, “I’d love to see a picture of all the people on the Edinburgh council bet there’s some real stuning individuals.”

Around 210,000 people are expected to attend the three Edinburgh shows for the reunion shows. The tour had such unprecedented interest that it has already cost fans over £2 million collectively in scams, according to Lloyds Banking Group.

Oasis will start their reunion tour at the Principality Stadium on July 4th, ahead of dates in Manchester, London, Edinburgh, and Dublin later this summer.
