The Oscar winning actor Leo DiCaprio has been confirmed as part of the next Guillermo Del Toro film which will depict a con-man and a female mentalist in a classic film noire. Needless to say, we’re all very excited.
Having been famed for his relationship with director Martin Scorsese, DiCaprio has in recent years also been keen to broaden his horizons with some of the film world’s best and brightest. From Baz Lurhman (Romeo + Juliet, Great Gatsby) to his Oscar-winning performance in Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s The Revenant. Now, he’s set to work with Guillermo Del Toro.
The Hollywood Reporter, says DiCaprio is in talks to star in Del Toro’s adaptation of Nightmare Alley. Originally a William Lindsay Gresham’s 1946 novel, the story shows an ambitious con-man partner up with a female mentalist to try and get one over on Chicago’s best and brightest. Del Toro and Kim Morgan have adapted the novel, which had an original screenplay in 1947, 72 years later to be a moody and dark film noire.
We can’t wait.
