The cast for David Leitch’s eagerly anticipated action film Bullet Train continues to expand as Lady Gaga reportedly becomes the latest name attached to a project which also includes Brad Pitt, Joey King and more.
Based on the Japanese novel Maria Beetle by Kotaro Isaka, the film will tell the story of five deadly trained assassins all on the same bullet train travelling from Tokyo to Morioka. The fast-moving transport has limited stops before its destination and, without knowing what is waiting at the end of the journey, it becomes a tale of who can stay alive.
Now, it appears that Gaga is the latest name to be added to the cast, joining Pitt, King, Brian Tyree Henry, Joey King, Aaron Taylor Johnson, Andrew Koji, Masi Oka and Michael Shannon for the film.
As previously reported, according to Deadline, Joey King “plays one of four leads opposite Pitt” and the actress is believed to be the only woman in the group in a screenplay which has been written by Zak Olkewicz. It is not yet known if Gaga will fill another of the assassin spots but, according to Collider, she will be a “smaller supporting role rather than a lead”.
Director Leitch, who is celebrated for his past projects such as John Wick, Deadpool 2, Hobbs & Shaw and more, will produce the new film alongside Kelly McCormick through their 87North company. It is also reported that Antoine Fuqua, Kat Samick and Brittany Morrissey will be on producing duties for Sony Pictures.
Like most productions this year, a specific production date has not been confirmed due to the current health crisis. Reports suggest that Sony are hoping to begin work on the film this autumn in Los Angeles with coronavirus protocols in place.
