Kurt Vile reschedules North American tour amid coronavirus outbreak

Kurt Vile was set to begin his first solo tour of North America in 10 years next week but now, amid the global coronavirus pandemic, it has now been postponed.

Vile has been forced into re-scheduling the 24 date tour for the summer which will see him accompanied by acclaimed Welsh musician Cate Le Bon and the duo will he will be visiting the likes of New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Austin as well as a two-night residency in Portland.

Vile last release was 2018’s Bottle It In which followed his 2017 collaborative album Lotta Sea Lice with Courtney Barnett and is expected to release new music shortly which was expected to be previewed on the singer’s upcoming tour but fans may have to wait a little longer now.

The ongoing pandemic of coronavirus disease was first officially identified in December 2019 in Wuhan, the capital of Hubei in China. As of March 29th, more than 723,869 cases of COVID-19 have been officially confirmed but the actual number is thought to be much higher due to substantial under-reporting of cases.

With more than 34,000 people having died from the virus, COVID-19 has now spread into more than 180 other countries—including mainland Europe, South America and North America. Given the exponential growth in cases in countries like Italy, Spain and the UK, the WHO have now stated that Europe was the current centre of the pandemic.
