Kristen Stewart says “reality is breaking” under Donald Trump administration

Kristen Stewart has hit out at Donald Trump once again, warning that “reality is breaking” under the influence of his administration.

In a new interview with The Times, the Personal Shopper actor, who has now taken a seat in the directorial chair for her adaptation of Lidia Yuknavitch’s memoir, The Chronology of Water, opened up about what it was like to film the heart-wrenching movie.

Stewart admitted that the film was mostly shot in Latvia because “it would have been impossible to do in the States”.

She has been outspoken on Trump’s threat of tariffs on films made outside the US, sharing previously: “[Trump’s] shadow is bleak and very dark … we should expect the worst and fight for the best.”

At that time, she also shared, “We’re living in a world that’s folding in on itself by the split second… we’re all looking over our shoulders going: ‘Holy shit.’ The slippage is just terrifying.”

In the new interview, she elaborated on this thinking, sharing that, “reality is breaking completely under Trump. But we should take a page out of his book and create the reality we want to live in.”

The star, who currently resides in Los Angeles and New York, isn’t sure whether she will remain in the US because of such sociopolitical turmoil: “Probably not. I can’t work freely there. But I don’t want to give up completely. I’d like to make movies in Europe and then shove them down the throat of the American people.”

Stewart has a curious relationship with Trump, who formerly posted a string of tweets about Stewart in 2012 after she was caught cheating on her then-boyfriend and Twilight co-star Robert Pattinson with the married Snow White and the Huntsman director, Rupert Sanders.

In reaction, Trump wrote online: “Robert Pattinson should not take back Kristen Stewart. She cheated on him like a dog & will do it again — just watch. He can do much better!”

The Chronology of Water is in cinemas from February 6th in the UK. Watch the official trailer below.
