King Krule shares new song 'Alone, Omen 3'

King Krule has released ‘Alone, Omen 3’, the second single to be taken from his forthcoming album Man Alive!.

The track, which comes with an accompanying video directed by Archy Marshall’s close friend Jocelyn Anquetil, was also co-written by the artist and director. Featuring Marshall surrounded by his friends, bandmates, and collaborators, the video backs up the message that “you’re not alone.”

“I felt like I had gotten out of a dark place, and I was on a high,” Marshall explains. “I appreciated the depression… but I also liked how I felt better in the here and now.”

The record, which arrives as the eagerly anticipated follow-up to 2017 album The Ooz, will include the four recently released tracks which featured on Krule’s short film Hey World. The project which featured the lo-fi songs were presented as part of a short film directed by Charlotte Patmore, the longterm girlfriend of Archy Marshall.

Man Alive! will arrive February 21 via True Panther and Matador Records. Stream the new number, below.

The new material would arrive as his first new music in two years, following on from his critically acclaimed album The Ooz which was voted Far Out’s Best Album of 2017. “Immersive,” Far Out wrote in the review. “One word to describe an album can often feel a little trite, but immersive is the primary word used for describing the latest effort from Londoner Archy Marshall (AKA King Krule). Following 2013’s 6 Feet Beneath The Moon was always going to be a challenge, with the LP taking so much critical acclaim, but The OOZ is something onto itself.”

The review continues: “The album feels like a meandering and menacing stroll through the dystopian world that surrounds Marshall, he envelops the listener with his frankly marauding and vicious soundscape and then finishes the job with his, at times, violent vocal additions.

“Deep, dark and wet with mould, the picture Marshall paints is nothing but consuming. A twisted yet clear view on the underbelly of society, warm with the blood of loneliness and scarred by the society which bred it.”
