Kid Rock hits back at Conan O’Brien for mocking him at the Oscars

Kid Rock has hit back after Conan O’Brien poked fun at him during his opening monologue at the Oscars.

O’Brien hosted the Academy Awards for the second consecutive year at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on March 15th, and used the opening segment to ridicule Kid Rock’s recent alternative halftime Super Bowl show for Turning Point USA.

Notably, the event, which was headlined by Kid Rock, was broadcast on YouTube and an act of protest against Bad Bunny due to the Puerto Rican musician performing in his native Spanish tongue.

In reference to this, O’Brien said at the Oscars, “Tonight could get political, and if that makes you uncomfortable, there’s an alternate Oscars being hosted by Kid Rock. It’s at the Dave and Buster’s down the street.”

Kid Rock then took to X to respond to O’Brien’s barb at his expense, writing, “I love a good joke, even when I am the butt of it, unfortunately this was not a very good one.”

He then used the opportunity to plug his upcoming tour, adding, “Either way, if you want to see a REAL good show this spring / summer that celebrates America and 250 years of Freedom – make sure you buy your tickets from (ugh) Ticketmaster for my Freedom 250 tour – The Road To Nashville. There is a reason for this, TRUST ME!”

Kid Rock wasn’t the only person from the political right who found themselves ridiculed by O’Brien at the 98th edition of the Academy Awards, with President Donald Trump also on the receiving end of a brutal jibe.

When the broadcast returned from a commercial break, O’Brien said it was coming “live from the ‘has a small penis’ theatre”, before adding, “Wonder who’d put his name in front of that,” referencing Trump’s recent interference with the Kennedy Center.

Overall, at the Academy Awards, the big winner was One Battle After Another, which secured six Oscars, including ‘Best Picture’, ‘Best Director’ for Paul Thomas Anderson and ‘Best Supporting Actor’ for Sean Penn.

Meanwhile, Michael B Jordan secured the ‘Best Actor’ award for Sinners and Jessie Buckley was named ‘Best Actress’ for Hamnet.
