‘Ketamine Queen’ drug dealer pleads guilty in Matthew Perry case
A drug dealer known as the ‘Ketamine Queen’ is set to plead guilty in the case investigating the death of Matthew Perry, for supplying the substance which ultimately killed the Friends actor.
Jasveen Sangha will plead guilty to the five counts against her in the Los Angeles case, including a charge of distributing ketamine resulting in death or bodily injury, according to the Justice Department in the city.
Sangha, who is a 42-year-old British-American citizen, was dubbed as being at the helm of a “drug-selling emporium” when details of the case first emerged, with prosecutors uncovering large supplies of ketamine in her home during a raid of the property.
Sangha is admitting to one count of maintaining a drug-involved premises, three counts of distributing ketamine, and one count of distributing ketamine resulting in death or serious bodily injury.
She was originally accused of nine charges, however, this has now been reduced to five, as she joins another four individuals pleading guilty to contributing to Perry’s death.
The actor was found dead in a jacuzzi at his home in Los Angeles on October 28th, 2023, at the age of 54. His passing was later found to have been caused by the acute effects of ketamine, the drug which had been supplied to him by five people, including Sangha.
Those accused consist of two doctors named Dr Salvador Plasencia and Dr Mark Chavez, who were involved in selling the drug, Perry’s personal assistant Kenneth Iwamasa, who helped him purchase and inject the substance, and Eric Fleming, who sold ketamine he had bought from Sangha to Perry.
Sangha is the last of the five to officially plead guilty, after her case had been pushed back numerous times. Her attorney, Mark Geragos, said in a statement to the BBC: “She’s taking responsibility for her actions”.
The drug dealer will officially enter her plea in a federal case next month, and could face up to 65 years in prison for her crimes.
