Keanu Reeves has cast doubt over the reality of much-speculated film Bill & Ted 3 making it to production.
Despite it being confirmed at Cannes Film Festival that Reeves and Alex Winter were to bring back the much-loved characters 27 years since the second instalment, Reeves has now revealed issues with “show business stuff — financing, rights, deals. Nothing creatively.”
Winter has previously tweeted confirmation of the comeback when he said “we’re tuning the air guitars. £BT3.” However, Reeves remains less confident: “I don’t know if it’s a reality,” he told Yahoo Entertainment. “We’ve been trying for a long time to get that film made, and it still has its challenges.”
Despite those challenges, Reeves has remained clear that he would like the project to go ahead, he said: “I really love the characters, and I think we have a good story to tell.
“It’ll be interesting to see what that’s like,” he said when discussing his character specifically. “There’d be a lot about him that would be the same, I’m sure; his kind of optimistic naïveté in the face of the darkness will still be there. He has a child now, so I’m sure he’s matured.”
