Kanye West’s Brazil concert cancelled after officials refuse to grant permit

A Kanye West concert set to take place on November 29th in São Paulo, Brazil, was cancelled after local authorities refused to grant a permit for the event.

Hearing news of the provisional concert, São Paulo State Public Prosecutor’s Office initially ordered that the rapper be arrested should he make a single pro-Nazi remark. On social media, the star previously shared his new political leanings, as well as a song titled ‘Heil Hitler’.

At that time, São Paulo Mayor Ricardo Nunes shared, “No one who promotes Nazism will play or sing any words on public equipment belonging to the City Hall. We will do everything necessary to ensure that no one who promotes Nazism has any kind of activity here in the city of São Paulo.”

Now, it has been revealed that the concert was cancelled after the São Paulo City Hall derailed those plans when it vetoed West’s use of the Interlagos Racetrack, citing his recent hate speech.

As per Consequence, Nunes had a short, sweet rebuttal to the musician’s hope to perform in his city: “He won’t sing a single word.”

Event organisers are still hopeful that they can make a performance in Brazil work next year, but likely not in São Paulo. The cancelled gig was set to be his first performance in the country since the 2011 SWU Festival.

Earlier this year, an entire festival in Slovakia was cancelled after public outcry about West’s slated performance. Rubicon Festival was set to occur from July 18th to July 20th, at that time marking the rapper’s only scheduled show for 2025.

Recently, West’s personal assistant has accused the musician of assault, battery, stalking, sexual battery, sex trafficking, false imprisonment and more, which he has denied. He has also made several pro-Nazi, pro-Hitler statements as of late.

Kanye is yet to respond to the latest development.
