Kanye West says he will run for President of the United States in 2020

In what is another moment in a historical year, Kanye West used Independence Day in the US to announce he is running for President this year, though it is yet to be confirmed if he has filed any official paperwork.

The rapper and outspoken pop culture icon took to his Twitter account and announced that he plans to run for President in the upcoming election. Going up against Donald Trump and Joe Biden he caused a social media storm following the announcement.

Yet another week goes by and 2020 seems to fall ever more deeply into the role of one of the most shocking and scary years in recent memory.

West has announced on Twitter he will run for President saying: “We must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future.”

“I am running for president of the United States.”

The message was accented with an American flag, an exclamation mark and #2020VISION. Kim Kardashian West replied to the tweet with an American flag possibly adding her endorsement.

It’s only four months until America goes to the polls on November 3rd and it leaves little time for West to orchestrate an effective campaign.

It’s too late for West to be a part of either of the two main parties ballot, so will need to gather a certain amount of signatures and register in states by a particular deadline, some of which for certain states have already passed.

But he does seemingly already have the support of Elon Musk who tweeted: “You have my full support”

There’s yet to be an official confirmation of West’s desire to run but hey, it is 2020, so we’d be surprised if he didn’t.
