Australia bans Kanye West from entering the country
Kanye West has had his Australian visa revoked. The decision to block the rapper from entering the country was made due to the release of an antisemitic song called ‘Heil Hitler’ in May.
Home Affairs Minister, Tony Burke, revealed that West would be denied entry to the country after praising Adolf Hitler, the leader of the Nazi Party, behind the genocide of around six million Jews.
“He’s been coming to Australia for a long time,” he began. “He’s got family here and he’s made a lot of offensive comments that my officials looked at again. Once he released the ‘Heil Hitler’ song, he no longer has a valid visa in Australia.”
Burke continued: “It wasn’t a visa for the purpose of concerts. It was a lower-level and the officials still looked at the law and said, you’re going to have a song and promote that sort of Nazism, we don’t need that in Australia.”
Notably, West’s wife, 30-year-old Bianca Censori, was born in Melbourne, so he will no longer be allowed to visit her home country alongside her.
The song finds West rapping about having “so much anger” inside of him, adding, “These people took my kids from me and they froze my bank account.” He repeats “n*gga, heil Hitler” 15 times throughout the track.
He raps, “With all of my money and fame I still don’t get to see my children/ N*ggas see my Twitter but they don’t see how I be feeling/ So I became a Nazi, yeah bitch, I’m the villain.”
The song ends with a sample of a speech by Hitler from 1935. Translated from German, he says, “If you consider the work I’m doing to be right, if you think I have been diligent, that I have worked, that I have advocated for you this year, that I have spent my time honestly in the service of my people, then cast your vote! If so, then stand up for me like I have stood up for you!”
‘Heil Hitler’ was released after Kanye expressed his love for Hitler on X in February, while claiming he was a Nazi.
“I LOVE HITLER NOW WHAT BITCHES,” he wrote. “IM A NAZI. I SAY WHATEVER THE FUCK I WANT PUSSIES. IM NEVER APOLOGIZING FOR MY JEWISH COMMENTS I CAN SAY WHATEVER THE FUCK I WANNA SAY FOREVER WHERES MY FUCKING APOLOGY FOR FREEZING MY ACCOUNTS SUCK MY DICK HOWS THAT FOR AN APOLOGY.”
