It’s a small world eh? It’s even smaller if you’re a famous Canadian, it would seem.
Child superstar Justin Bieber, who has been in the limelight since the age of 13, is taking a little time away from the music industry following a series of unpleasant and high profile headlines.
In his down time, the pop star has taken it upon himself to track down his fancily ancestors by using Ancestry.com, the largest for-profit genealogy company in the world. The website, according to its description, operates a network of genealogical, historical record and genetic genealogy records to track down people’s family tree.
Now, in a bizarre turn of events, Bieber has discovered that pop rock singer Avril Lavigne and Hollywood A-lister Ryan Gosling are distant cousins. “I also just found out that I’m related to both Ryan gosling and Avril Lavigne this is the best day of my life,” Bieber said on social media. “It seems super legit it’s on ancestry.com,” he added while providing a picture of the family tree.
Breaking down the situation, Exclaim explain: “Bieber’s 11th great-grandparents are Gosling’s 10th great-grandparents, with Lavigne’s slightly more immediate family branching off from Bieber’s third cousin nine times removed.”
