Julien Baker and Torres cancel all of spring tour dates to “prioritse well-being”

After previously cancelling a run of three shows, Julien Baker and Torres have revealed the entirety of the ‘Send A Prayer My Way’ tour has been cancelled.

In April, Julien Baker of Boygenius and Torres released a duet album inspired by cowboys and country music. In March, they cancelled a string of three shows as “one of our key members sustained a concussion and will need to take the next few weeks to recover.”

Now, Julien Baker’s team has taken to their Instagram to announce the cancellation of the rest of the performance dates. The post begins: “Due to recent events, Julien Baker is prioritizing her well-being and taking time to focus on her health.”

The statement continues: “This decision was not made lightly, and we understand the disappointment this may cause for fans. We deeply appreciate your understanding.” Comments on the post have been switched off.

Their summer dates, including Newport Folk Festival, Outside Lands, and All Things Go DC, are currently scheduled to proceed.

The duo’s tour kicked off on April 23rd in Richmond. They played a sold-out show on May 1st in New Orleans, and were set to perform on May 4th in San Antonio, before the announcement was made.

This cancellation seems out of the blue, as one of the most recent posts on Baker’s Instagram, uploaded on 30th April, reads, “Getting to play these songs for y’all has been unbelievably fun… Keep an eye out for more tour news soon.”

In a review for their new album, Far Out commented: “There are few moments here where they feel like a band. They feel firmly like two soloists working together, passing songs between them, occasionally joining forces. But in the grand tradition of country duets and the chemistry and harmonies that fuel them, this new duo fail to come even close to the standard set by the best.”
