Julian Lennon undergoes skin cancer surgery
Julian Lennon has undergone treatment for skin cancer again, having previously had an operation to rid him of a cancerous mole in 2020. He is now urging his followers to get themselves checked by a doctor if they are worried, stating, “You may just be saving your own life.”
The musician, who was born in 1963 to Beatles member John Lennon and his first wife, Cynthia – and who is also the subject of the classic track ‘Hey Jude’ – took to Instagram on December 18th to give an update on his health.
After appearing on Good Morning America, Lennon claimed to have received a call from his dermatologist who informed him “with some urgency to return to Los Angeles, as I had two locations on my skin, shoulder and forearm, one of which was melanoma, that should be operated on asap!!”
“Instead of going home to put my Christmas tree up and happily finish the year off, relaxing at home, I flew directly back to Los Angeles, after all my work in New York was done, and went directly from LAX airport, to surgery,” he wrote.
Lennon continued, “One can never be too confident in circumstances like this, but we all believe that Dr Tim has saved the day… So fingers crossed for now.”
Sharing a photo of the area on his arm that is being treated, Lennon wrote, “It only takes a short while to do so, and you may just be saving your own life, at the end of the day.” He added, “So please, for the sake of yourself, your family and friends just go to your Dr and do what must be done…”
“I love life and I want to live for a very long time and this is one way, and a choice, that could determine your future.”
Lennon is awaiting the results of his operation, which he might not find out for another few weeks, but until then, he seems optimistic that it will have been successful.
Meanwhile, Lennon released a new book, Life’s Fragile Moments, a collection of his photography, in September. He shared his most recent album, Jude, back in 2022 before releasing a remixed version of his song ‘I Should Have Known’ a few months ago.
