Julia Roberts opens up on Matthew Perry’s “heartbreaking” death

Julia Roberts has opened up publicly for the first time about her former boyfriend, Matthew Perry, who died back in October. Perry is best known for playing Chandler Bing on the American sitcom Friends.

On October 28th, the actor was found dead in his hot tub at his home in Los Angeles at the age of 54. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Roberts said that she had “all good thoughts and feelings” about the late star.

“The sudden passing of anybody so young is heartbreaking,” Roberts said. “I think that, you know, it just helps all of us just appreciate what we have and to keep going in a positive way as best we can,”

Reflecting on her appearance in the 1996 Friends episode ‘The One After the Superbowl, Part 2’, Roberts noted, “They were all so welcoming to me as just a kind of one-off character, and it was a really fun time.”

Perry had talked of Roberts in his 2022 memoir Friends, Lovers, And The Big Terrible Thing, writing, “Three or four times a day I would sit by my fax machine and watch the piece of paper slowly revealing her next missive.”

The actor added, “It was like she was placed on this planet to make the world smile, and now, in particular, me. I was grinning like some 15-year-old on his first date.”
